History

In 2012, a number of parents within the Dover School District, whose children have a variety of special education needs, expressed interest in developing a deeper relationship between parents, teachers, case managers, and the district around special education. We were feeling isolated and ill-informed about how to best meet our child’s educational needs.

Around the same time, the Dover’s Special Education team – citing parent engagement survey data – saw the need for parents to feel more connected to the special education process. Discussions showed that parents wanted to create an information & support group for parents to provide a forum to:
  1. Network, support, and learn with each other
  2. Better understand what local tools and resources are available through the Dover community for their children
  3. Connect with their children’s educators through mutually beneficial learning opportunities, resulting in deepening relationships and understanding
So with the help of NH Connections, the Dover Family School Alliance was born. Our group is new and, like our kids, we are learning and growing. We hope you will join us and look forward to hearing from you or seeing you at upcoming events. Please contact us with any questions you have or with any ideas for additional resources and programming.
